Yes, we have a bookclub!!
The BSJ Bookclub takes place monthly at our beloved LovingRoom Bookstore located in the CD.
We chose to meet off-campus in order to honor our goals of strengthening the relationship between UW students and the Black spaces outside of the University campus. We found our way towards LovingRoom because of the love-centering gravity of both the owner and the space. LovingRoom is saturated in a rich holistic appreciation and celebration of Blackness in all it's forms and it is in this spirit we see ourselves reflected. We want our readers to feel heard, respected, and recognized within our group, and thus the environment too must mirror this.
We recommend folks head down there in their spare time to check it out for themselves :)
Books
We read a book quarterly. We are intentional about book length so as to make sure the bookclub is accessible for those with busy schedules. If commuters cannot make it to the in-person meetings, we also have an online zoom option! Just reach out to us via instagram or email.
